Questionable Quality Porter Cable has leaned heavily on its name, which as far as I’m concerned, doesn’t count for much any more. The drill is under the Delta/Black & Decker umbrella now and its quality is questionable. Upon receiving the drill, I was impressed by its balance and solid metal gear housing. Also impressive is its power. After some use however, I think you’ll find that the variable speed trigger is sensitive and twitchy. It’s very difficult to get a smooth acceleration. This drill’s poorly designed…

Excellent drill I bought this drill about 6 months ago after looking at a few similar size drills. It is my first variable speed and first Porter Cable purchase. I expect it will be the last drill I will ever buy. It is very solid, metal and plastic, but it feels like all metal construction. I have used it to build a 6 x 10 chicken coop, a set of outdoor stairs, put up some curtains, build a couple of other projects. It is powerful enough for any home handyman (which I am). I would suggest it would be a good…

Questionable Quality – Dead Drill, Worthless Warranty We went with the “Porter Cable” name – the drill stopped working in 2 months and was not subject to any heavy usage. 3 Year Warranty is worthless – was asked to contact local repair center. Have tried calling it several times (in Detroit area) – no one answers the phone – some times a fax machine answers!! The 800 number is totally a waste of time. So this one and all future Porter-Cable purchases get tossed!
